Livecanna is Officially Verified on Vechain Blockchain

Livecanna, a company that sells authentic Cannabidiol (CBD) products, has officially partnered with Real Items. Livecanna products are now verifiable on the Vechain blockchain.

Livecanna's founders, Matt Flynn and Daniel Borovik, decided to have their products verified with Real Items after witnessing the problem of trust in the CBD industry. According to Flynn, the company partnered with Real Items to focus on traceability as counterfeiting is a large issue with CBD.

"There is a huge problem with CBD purity and potency. I'm sure that this technology is going to make it more transparent for the consumer," Flynn said.

CBD is a phytocannabinoid that makes up 40 percent of the cannabis plant's extract. Although it is a natural compound of the plant, unlike Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is non-psychoactive and will not make people "high." It is a significant ingredient in Medical Marijuana and has shown positive results for epilepsy, anxiety, chronic pain, nausea, cancer-related pain, and other health issues.

James, a Livecanna customer, shared that the product helped ease the pain of his sore wrist and elbow. “I had a sore elbow and wrist for many years. After using the CBD lotion the pain was so much less I was shocked it worked so well.”

While CBD effectively treats certain illnesses, a report from Harvard Medical School showed that it is primarily marketed and sold as a supplement, not a medication. The FDA currently does not regulate the safety and purity of dietary supplements. Thus, there is no guarantee that the product purchased has active ingredients at the dose listed on the label.

After experiencing first-hand what it’s like to purchase a diluted product, co-founder Flynn came up with the idea to start a company that sells authentic CBD products.

"Companies are buying some sources that are diluting for profits. I personally experienced buying a diluted product, and I was shocked at how diluted it was. Just by consuming it, there was really no effect for me," he said.

Flynn added that the diluted product was sold at twice the price of their Livecanna products, "It was overpriced—double what we're going to be charging, and the brand was unknown.”

To prove their products' authenticity, Borovik pitched to Flynn that their products be verified on the Vechain blockchain.

"Three years since I bought Vechain, I've learned a lot about the company. I've just been on track of it leading up to where I'm like, 'Matt, this [Vechain] is where you wanna go,'" Borovik said.

With the help of Real Items' tamper-proof technology, Flynn and Borovik aim to provide authenticity and trust with their CBD products worldwide. They hope Livecanna can prevent the purchase of diluted or contaminated products, especially for those who need them for medical purposes.
